Upcycled Plant-Based Protein from Barley
Barley protein is derived from brewers’ spent grain, a co-product of the beer brewing process. Through carefully controlled processing and fractionation, the valuable nutritional components of barley are concentrated while preserving functional properties. The resulting ingredient provides a balanced combination of plant-based protein and dietary fibre.
The powder is characterized by its brown color, mild grainy taste, and natural cereal notes. Due to its good dispersibility and compatibility with both dry and liquid systems, barley protein can be integrated into a wide range of food applications. Barley protein performs reliably under standard processing conditions such as heat treatment and mechanical shear. Its water- and oil-binding capacity supports texture, stability, and mouthfeel in various formulations, making it suitable for applications ranging from baked goods and tortillas to plant-based meat products and hybrid formulations.
